Mwebaza Clubs are an exciting opportunity for students to dive deeper into Ugandan culture and ways of life while building meaningful connections with our partner schools in Uganda. Whether you're curious about new traditions, eager to make friends across the world, or looking for a chance to take on a leadership role, there's a place for you in Mwebaza Clubs.

What do we do in our after-school clubs?

Mwebaza Clubs bring students together to learn, create, and collaborate. Club members get involved in a hands-on way: planning events, cooking Ugandan food, practicing Ugandan dances, and sharing what they're learning with their classmates and school community. Some of the things students get to do include:

  • exchanging ideas and questions with friends in Uganda during our Mwebaza Day all-school event

  • making arts and crafts and learning to cook traditional Ugandan food

  • creating presentations to share with classmates

  • planning and advertising special events like the Festival of Nations, the Student Art Sale, restaurant nights, and spirit days

  • Exploring global issues and discovering how they connect Colorado and Uganda

  • building friendships through games and activities

Want to start a Mwebaza Club at your school?

Mwebaza Clubs are run differently depending on the school! Elementary schools typically host their meetings before or after the school day and include students from varying grade levels. There are no special requirements or skills needed to join this club - it is open to students of all interests and abilities! You just need a curiosity about the world!
