Niwot Elementary and Mwebaza Infant Primary School formed a partnership in 2007. Since then, the two schools have enjoyed learning about each other through cross-cultural exchange activities, art projects, and live video school events. The Niwot community participates in activities and learning opportunities that foster a global understanding and a deepened worldview while building friendships abroad.
Niwot-Mwebaza Club
Joining this club is a great leadership opportunity for students in 1st - 5th grade who would like to participate in planning, organizing, and leading our sister school activities and projects this year. Our focus is on the cross-cultural exchange between the two schools, learning about current global issues and how they affect us in Colorado and our friends in Uganda, fundraising events, and cultural activities.
Creating presentations about our partnership to share with classes and at other events.
Playing games and having fun.
Ugandan cultural activities: music, cooking, art and crafts.
Working together with peers on projects.
Planning and making posters to advertise events, such as Mwebaza Day, Jog-a-thon, Student Art Sale, restaurant nights, and more.
Learning about global issues affecting our communities.
Understand ourselves and others
Join us for this year’s Mwebaza Day!
Mwebaza Days are integral to our mission of inspiring global citizenship.
“Mwebaza Day” refers to in-school, cultural celebrations that we host with our Colorado and Uganda partner schools! These special days invite each school community to connect with one of the Mwebaza partner schools on the other side of the Atlantic Ocean, through a live video chat.
Mwebaza Day promotes cross-cultural understanding, global awareness, and meaningful connections by inviting students to share culturally-relevant dances, songs, and engage in a Q&A.
